How traitsdotfun works

traitsdotfun lets anyone launch an ERC-20 token that represents a rare trait from a well-known NFT collection — for example CryptoPunks 3D Glasses, BAYC Laser Eyes, or Azuki Golden Sheathed Katana.

Each launch starts on a bonding curve with virtual liquidity (about ~$10k starting market cap). When the curve sells out, liquidity graduates to a locked Uniswap V4 pool.

Trait metadata (collection name, trait type/value, rarity counts, art) is display-only. It does not grant NFT ownership or claim rights over any collection. traitsdotfun is not affiliated with any NFT project.

1. Launch — Pick a collection + rare trait (or enter custom metadata), choose a name/symbol, and create the token. The full supply is minted to the launchpad.
2. Trade on the curve — Buy and sell with ETH against virtual constant-product reserves. Price rises as more tokens are bought; a small trade fee applies.
3. Graduate — When all curve tokens are sold, the token is ready to migrate. Anyone can finalize graduation; remaining tokens + ETH seed Uniswap V4, and LP is locked.
4. Trade on Uniswap — After migration, spot trading continues on the DEX instead of the bonding curve.

Pricing uses a constant-product curve with virtual ETH and token reserves so launches can start at a meaningful market cap without a large initial deposit. Real ETH accumulates as buyers purchase tokens; at graduation that ETH plus the LP allocation seeds Uniswap V4.

• Explore (/) — Browse live and graduated trait tokens. Filter by collection, status, or market cap. Featured collections appear in the banner carousel.
• Launch a trait (/create) — Use Quick start from curated collections or fill in custom metadata. Connect a wallet to submit on-chain (when the launchpad is configured).
• Token page (/token/[address]) — Chart, trade history, rarity stats, and buy/sell panel. After graduation, open the Uniswap deep link.
• Profile (/profile) — See your holdings valued at the current curve price, plus tokens you created.

The app targets Ethereum mainnet (NEXT_PUBLIC_CHAIN_ID=1). Until NEXT_PUBLIC_LAUNCHPAD_ADDRESS is set, Explore shows curated sample trait tokens; wallets still connect to mainnet.

After the TraitLaunchpad is deployed, set that address (and optionally NEXT_PUBLIC_START_BLOCK) to trade and launch on-chain.
